HISTORICAL FIGURE OF THE DAY
I was not sure if I would pick Anne Boleyn, or Henry VIII today - but I have Anne. But don't worry, Henry will follow soon, haha. I have been watching many documentaries about the Tudor Era the last few days and I just can't get enough. I have watched the whole Tudors series two times already and I feel like watching it all over again. Anyways .. Anne Boleyn. I adore her and you have no idea how much. And yes, Natalie Dormer in the role as Anne has helped this, of course, but Anne Boleyn, the real historical figure Anne Boleyn, is amazing even without Natalie playing this role in The Tudors.
Why do I admire her so much? Well .. she was able to do the unthinkable. She was able to get Henry to divorce his first wife, Katherine of Aragon, she was able to make him marry her and she helped the reformation, making England not depending on Rome and making Henry not only head of the country, but also head of church.
What fascinates me the most is how she was able to capture the king's attention even though it was said, that she wasn't one of the pretty girls. Well, in those times. No blonde hair, no blue eyes - which was considered pretty at that time. She had dark hair, darker skin than it was usual and dark brown eyes, almost black. I guess that many of you understand now, why I like her that much, haha. And it also amazes me, how she was able to make him chase her, how she made him adore her, even though he was still married to Katherine. I am not able to do that, I don't know how to do that .. I admire her. I also love her terms - "no crown, no sex". It makes me laugh every time I think about it. If I was american, I'd say "You go girl!", haha. Anyways .. here are some pictures of Anne - painted by Holbein and also played by Natalie Dormer.
